For instance, it took me ~9 hours to make this post, where are only 22 blogs.

What I’m curious about is this super-strict requirement for uniqueness.
EzineArticles is a proven traffic-driver, and they are delighted to accept your blog posts meeting their requirements.
I accept articles out of people’s archives. Happy to republish. Doesn’t seem to have hurt my traffic, my ranking, their guest author’s traffic or ranking, helps the guest author leverage good content, and gives my readers new perspective.
Not complaining (I just don’t submit where unique content is required), but I just don’t get it.

Hmm.. You’ve, actually, confused me with your points.
The easiest explanation is, probably, Google and the way it treats duplicate content.
But I’ll dig it deeper.
This circle of people that make the commenting rounds have a set of beliefs, some of which are very strong, but some of which I’m totally convinced are accurate.
For example, anyone who speaks for what Google does or does not do, without either working on the search team at Google, or having actual test results (like StomperNet), well, they are simply making (or repeating) an unsupported assertion.
It’s hilarious to me when my own positive test results directly contradict “what everyone knows is true.” And mostly, I’m happy to let them believe what they want.
