NB: Watch the video first. In the end of this post.
My name is Allan Rumyantsev, I’m 22. Most of you know me as iWoodpecker. I’m blogging about website traffic and promotion. So, I’m trying to help others to succeed in blogging, like most of you.
I’m currently living in Estonia, this website’s hosting is also located here. You can check that by IP of my domain. For example, here.
What happened?
For most of us the 5th February (2010) was a day of a new post or a guest post. For Milana Kashtanova (Rus. – “Милана Каштанова”, she’s 21, she is studying at the faculty of psychology (located in St. Petersburg, Russia) and she’s citizen of Estonia) it was the day, when a huge lump of ice fell on her head right from the roof of multi-floored building (they are common ones in Russia).
She was passing a building, where workers were cleaning the roof from snow and ice. She didn’t hear any warnings and passers-by screaming about the danger, because she had headphones on. But she wouldn’t have been able to hear anything, even if she hadn’t headphones on, because of the street noise in general.
Milana was delivered to the Mariinsky hospital, which is also in Russia, at the critical condition. By the moment she had two operations on her brain. The condition is assessed as very difficult.
Doctors report that Milana is stable, i.e. neither better nor worse, but still there is a threat to her life. Currently they are struggling with the hematoma, they have made a small trephine.
Doctors say that no sooner, than in one week (depending on the dynamics of the restoration), she will be moved to the Institute of Neurosurgery by Polenova, which is situated about 500 meters from the intensive care unit.
Her common-law husband hopes he will be able to resolve the issue of insurance and to collect some money, because the maintenance in that hospital costs 10,000 rubles per day, which is total about 200,000 per course. Just to let you know – 1$ is ~30 rubles, which means, that one full course would cost them ~6,500+$.
For most of you this sum of money is not big at all. For Russia it is. For instance, average salary in Russia is ~500-600$, in Estonia it’s ~500-800$. I hope it gives you a sense of what it means for Milana, her common-law husband and her family.
How do I know her?
She is a friend of my common-law wife – Tatiana, she is also 21. There’s nothing special, right? Except one thing – Milana is the only one friend of her. I know her as a girl, who loves life and wants to live. She’s extremely positive person, which makes her worthy living here like no one else. I can’t explain nor understand why this happened to her… She doesn’t deserve it.

I would like also to show several pictures of me, Tatiana, Milana and Iriney to confirm the facts of our relationships and existence:

You can use Google translate to understand the gist of what he writes. Or, if you’re using Mozilla Firefox, you can install Google Toolbar, which has the feature to translate any pages instantly to almost any language.
PS. Google translates Milana’s name as Milan Brown. Don’t believe it. It’s Milana Kashtanova.

Updates
8th February, 10:24 pm : Milana is in the condition of coma – second degree (max is 3), and the deployment of the third degree (max is 4) – it is still very serious and dangerous, but we hope and expect the acute phase would last only during this week.
9th February, 0:22 am : You can also contact Iriney directly via email: irinei.ru@gmail.com
9th January, 4:18 pm : New ways to donate money available – webmoney, yandex.money, Swedbank, SIAB bank. Visit Iriney’s blog for more info. Currently donated sum of money is ~25,000 rubles (~812$). Donators are mostly relatives and citizens from Estonia. Milana’s condition gets better, but it is still dangerous. And her family still needs a lot of money to pay for the full course in the Institute of Neurosurgery (by Polenova). Any help is needed.
9th February, 8:04 pm : Two donators so far: Henri Junttila and Neal Nixon. Thank you, guys!
10th February, 2:05 am : Iriney was finally found the video of this incident. Some woman was filming it just right after it happened. You can see from the video, that there is no ambulance yet arrived.
Click the video to watch. It’s in russian, but you are able to see Milana’s condition…
By this moment the total donation is ~4040$ (from Estonia and Russia) out of the required minimum, which is 6500$. Is there anyone ready to help here?
10th February, 11:36 am : 4 donators by this moment: plus Fédérico MORENO and John Vantine. I’ve changed the amount of donation to 10$.. I think, that this is not too much and isn’t that little like 1$. Besides, if you still wish to donate different sum of money – use my PayPal ID – AllanRumjantsev@gmail.com or contact me.
10th February, 12:00 am : Now there’s available PayPal account of Iriney’s classmate – it’s lelik.llk@gmail.com
10th February, 5:13 pm : I’ve changed WP donation plugin. This one has more options to choose from.
10th February, 5:38 pm : Two more video episodes:
12th February, 4:12 pm : By this moment the total amount of donations is 470k rubles (~11,450$) for 5 days. This is incredibly good news. Though nobody can say for sure how much money would be needed. Milana’s family just hopes that they wouldn’t have to choose between expensive and cheap medicaments and doctors.
28th February, 8:51 pm : I almost forgot to mention, that there will be no more updates from me, because this article’s purpose was to find donators for Milana and her family. By this moment the total amount of money from donations is more than 1 million rubles (~33,290$). I did all I could with this blog to help her, and you can see above who donated and how much donated.
So, I believe there is no critical need in money any more…especially, from me. Milana’s condition is almost the same, no significant changes. Yesterday she was moved to Military Medical Academy by S. M. Kirov. Notice that this is different hospital. It was decided, that this medical academy would be better and a little bit cheaper, than the Institute of Neurosurgery by Polenova. It costs here 8k rubles per day.
If you want to stay updated and know what is happening with Milana’s condition, then check this log, which Iriney updates every day. Don’t forget to use Google translate service to translate it from russian to english.
If you want something else to know, ask in comments.
Thanks again to all donators!

NB!
You can also comment in Russian or Estonian language.
I will provide the translation in the end of your comment.
