I’ve spent about 6 hours filtering this list of 55 blog directories. I’m sick of it now :)) But.. at last – the list is ready. All of the provided directories are totally free and don’t require reciprocal link. Somewhere you can put their link/banner to your website/blog, though that’s not necessary.
Difference between a usual website directory and a blog directory?
Well.. there is no special difference. But, I think that it’s more like an advantage for blogs. Because your blog can be submitted to both types of directories.
Why Working Blog Directories?
Because there are tons of trash blog directories, that don’t work today. They are still in the top of Google search queries. And I hope, that this post will beat them.
Why 2010?
Because today is the 13th of December. Got it? :)
As always, I’ve included Google pageranking and Alexa web traffic ranking. This will save your time, if you want to submit your blog only to free quality blog directories.

RSS directories?
Did you know, that there are also RSS directories? That’s right. I think, that they are much more useful for you blog rankings, though that doesn’t mean, that you shouldn’t submit your blog to usual and/or blog directories. They are simply another advantage of having a blog, but not a common website :)

Hi Allan, thanks for doing all of this work. I submitting my blog to Icerocket after reading a post from Louis Gray that shows how much better their search results are than Google and Twitter. If you want to take a look here is the link http://blog.louisgray.com/2009/12/icerockets-blog-search-twitter-search.html
Thanks again. I voted for this post and I will retweet you too.
@Ileane
Thanks, ileane
I agree with you. Icerocket is really comprehensive and quality service.
I’m testing now its blog tracking feature. Will see what it is :)
I’ve never spent much time with submissions. Just write and write, but with this honed list, I’m willing to give it a try. I’ll see what affect this has on traffic. Should be interesting.
Dear Alison Moore Smith,
Sure, give it a try! Your weapon on the Internet is a combination of a lot of stuff.. not only writing. Otherwise, you lose what you really deserve!
But the question is how many of them are no follow?
BlogCatalogs links are nofollow therefore NOT passing page rank. bloggernity.com you have to sign up just to submit. Bloglines isn’t there.
You forgot Blogging Fusion http://www.bloggingfusion.net
Allan thanks,
6 hours much appreciated – it’s a very useful list & immediately dugg for future fun … but I didn’t get it – Dec 13 ( small brain sorry!)
Cheers
Will
Rose,
http://www.bloggingfusion.net is not free. Sorry. It doesn’t fit this list.
The point of directories isn’t just about passing page rank. :)
The rest things you’ve mentioned are fine, check them once again.
Will,
That means the end of 2009.. summary. Let it be – 2010, for the future :)
I meant *blogging fusion*
That one is a blog directory. The net is a bid directory and Bloglines is back up.
It may not be just about PR, but it should be mentioned to anyone who does care about PR and indexing. ;-)
Hi Allan,
I just stumbled upon your site for the first time, yes you guessed it, whilst searching for blog directories !
This list gets a big thumbs up from me & I hope other readers realise the value & the effort you have put into creating this list.
Everybody new to blogging struggles for traffic initially & to find a list like this is like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow!
Keep Up The Great Work Dude ;-)
Rose,
Do you want me to mention it just because your blog is in the first line within “popular blogs” there? But still it is not free. And I won’t include it :)
Steve,
It’s really nothing special. Just a little summary of what is on the internet.
chandan,
Good. Thanks!
Allan, I was talking about BlogCatalog not passing PR. (It may not be just about PR, but it should be mentioned to anyone who does care about PR and indexing. ;-)) Follow along newbie. Seesh!
Rose´s last awesome post ..Taking a break due to health issues
I am having trouble submitting comments, it keeps saying my math question is incorrect but it is not. Hope it goes through this time.
thanks for this great list as well Allan. You have now put me back in blog promotion mode with these 3 great lists you have put together over the last month. I have been meaning to get back to submitting and backlinking for awhile but was putting it off. With your rss list, this one and the comment luv lists, I have plenty of easy work ahead of me, thanks for doing all this work for us.
Damon´s last awesome post ..TASC – Debt Settlement Lobby or Protector of the People?
Jeff Navarro,
Thanks for your kind words.
By the way, you have some nice looking and an unusual blog!
Nice info.
But did you notice that each page on site had different page rank?
we get benefit only a little from that site. What important is our content. Content is a king.
Burukutuk´s last awesome post ..Topless women photos
Well Alan, that is comprehensive list of blog submission directory and usefull too. I think it will not matter a lot if some of these are nofollow. Attracting traffic is main purpose.
Imran,
You’re totally right, because nofollow tag only matters when it comes to Google search :) But there are still other fine search engines!
This is a great list, another good blog directory is http://www.mybloglog.com/
My recent blog: Tools Used To Spy On Your Competitors
Avis,
MyBlogLog is a social network, not a blog directory.
Thanks so much for the list.
Here’s the directories that i’ve found not working:
blogmob – domain name expired
Tips for Comments:
Read the tips before you hit the "Submit" button.
NB! Though your name links are nofollow, I can make your ComLuv links dofollow - manually. And I will make them dofollow, if you show your most relevant recent post.
1. Try to add value;
2. Don't be another "congratulator";
3. Use your real name or promotional name, not keywords;
4. Do not use "name@keywords", there is no "keyword love" plugin here;
5. Try to be polite, where it's possible;
6. Do not agree with everything - that sounds and looks ridiculous;
7. If you wish to leave some link to one of your posts, or to some other - make sure the source is relevant;
8. Use advantages of CommentLuv on this blog. Show your most relevant recent blog post;
9. Share your opinion even if it is contrary to mine;
10. Check twice your grammatical errors;
PS. Full Comment Policy is on my About Me page.
